A/B Testing

We did a lot of A/B testings to test out different design ideas & components on different pages to validate our assumptions from real user reactions.

Homepage

TEST 1: Search bar above the fold

Goal: Make it easier for users to search for a community.

Background: On the homepage above fold “Search” is the main CTA. But since different communities have different senior care focus, so we want to bring the care type upfront on the search to make the search more prominent & collect better data.

Outcome: New search bar doesn’t attract more users to input their information. Next step from the PM is to redesign the above fold design and make it more informative.

Proposed (Option B):

On tablet and mobile:

TEST 2: pERSISTENT MODULE & CALL IN

Goal: Make all different contact CTA at one spot for home page

Background: On the homepage at that time we had 1 sticky bubble which is a chat robot for users to interact with us. And we had a phone number on the main nav, But if users clicked on the phone they will open face time directly which is very abrupt. We wanted users to know how can they contact us and what they can expect.

Outcome: It’s not doable according to the dev team since chat bot is a plugin and easy to use. We decided to redesign the main nav instead.

Lead gen flow

TEST: budget slider

Goal: Make budget selection easier for users, and we can collect more detailed data from them.

Background: All users come to A Place for Mom must answer a few key questions, and budget question is one of them. Currently only have option of “below & above $2000”, which is a wide range. From the data end it will be useful to get more details on so we decide to test on a slider to see if it performs better.

Outcome: Devs are not able to built it due to limited staff and time.

Community page

TEST: request a brochure

Goal: While community page need a while to be built, we want to find a way for users to engage with the community better and get their information too.

Background: Current community page is a high traffic place for us to receive users’s information for advisors. Besides filling the CTA form we want find an alternative way for them to get in touch with us while also get enough information for the community.
